Because families are the 'glue' in the community, we have a special focus on families and children who experience hardship or crisis. Our humanitarian work focuses on four major areas: Children at Risk, Medical Health, Educational Support and Income Generation.

Children at Risk
Children living on the streets are at-risk from petty crime, drugs, pressure to join gangs or pressure to enter prostitution. Our Mercy Teams offer friendship, education, clothing, food and counseling to build their self worth, and to give them a hand-up in their community. We believe every person is body, soul and spirit, and therefore we use a holistic approach. MTI is particularly interested in seeing children under 12 years who are victims of physical or sexual abuse, given a fresh start in life. Mercy Teams in Cambodia commenced during 2004, 'Project Freedom', a Child Abuse Treatment and Recovery Centre in Phnom Penh for sexually and physically abused young children.

Medical Health
We provide through visiting medical professionals, an opportunity for these professionals to treat and use their medical expertise and training amongst those unable to afford the costs of seeing a Doctor or Dentist. Medical Aids, health education and health supplements are given to those in need.

Education Support
Basic education is offered to disadvantaged children and youths giving them an opportunity to escape the cycle of poverty and illiteracy. Children are motivated to return or enter the school system by being provided with uniforms and stationery. Sponsorship and the teaching of morals, English and life skills are also offered.

Community Transformation
With business guidance and budgeting advice, marginalised women in Cambodia are assisted to make a living for themselves and families. For many this is the first and perhaps best opportunity they have ever had. We hope to empower the poor to lead a life of dignity, that covers their basic requirements of food, shelter and a basic education for their children.
