Thank you for your prayers and generous support for the people displaced by the conflict at the Cambodia-Thailand border. Thanks to you, MTI workers on the ground and our partners were able to help 760 families with food and hygiene products, bringing some hope and relief in their challenging situation.

When the MTI team arrived at two displacement camps last December with the supplies, they were greeted warmly and eagerly by the people. The camps only provide minimal shelter – there is a shortage of food, electricity, and no clean water.

With the approval of the provincial authorities, the team even celebrated Christmas with one of the camps.

SITUATION UNCHANGED

Currently, tensions at the border remain sky-high even though there is a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand. It is expected that the people will not be able to return home for a few months more.

Having left their livelihoods behind when they fled the conflict area, the displaced Cambodians will remain dependent on help from organisations like MTI for survival.

Very soon, MTI will be re-visiting one of the camps with clean water and solar lamps to meet some of the urgent needs noticed on their first visit. A team of medical professionals will also be present to provide basic healthcare.

MTI provides community care and development for least reached and marginalised people groups, building deep long-term relationships towards vibrant communities of Jesus followers.

Please pray:

  • For the safety of the MTI team and partners as they travel long distances to bring aid to the displaced families.
  • For good relationships with the local authorities and community.
  • That the people’s needs are met in holistic ways that address their physical, mental, and spiritual needs.
